Disregard

From the Chicken Transition Oracle Deck

In this life there can often be a tendency to place great emphasis on what goes on around us. We are relational creatures after all, and we use our observation of what appears to be separate from us to accurately measure the “rightness” of our own positioning in any given situation. If we are situated within a group, we can feel more comfortable excluding the so-called outsider. If we are the perceived outsider while others are surrounded by friends, we can feel we are unlikeable or unworthy of connection.

This can be true if we want it to be, however, life doesn’t have to be a competition or a mission of meeting some standard for connection or disconnection. Whatever our chosen explanation, it only exists in our need to define our experience and is limited by what is available to us. Given we all have limits to what we will access in this lifetime, one inevitable consequence is that our meaning systems will greatly vary.

Our experience in relation to constructs like connection and disconnection will depend on our own preconceived notions and expectations as a result of our unique context. Oppositional feelings can emerge if we refuse to acknowledge that despite whatever limitations are present or not present, we are in fact capable of setting the tone for our experience.

Anytime we become rigid in our definitions or positioning, we could stand to question what we have been taking for granted, and what else with our permission could be deemed relevant or irrelevant for our benefit.
